How do I add BYO Data

This article will cover how I add BYO files (EM38 surveys, Yield Maps) into the FarmLab platform.

FarmLab provides users with the ability to import their own remotely sensed data into the platform for analysis. This article will provide a step by step guide on how to do this.

File Types

FarmLab supports the import of Single Band GeoTIFF files and Shape Files, which are commonly used formats for geospatial data.

Single Band GeoTIFF files are raster image files that contain a single layer of pixel data, making them ideal for representing a specific type of remotely sensed information, such as satellite imagery or elevation data. This format is particularly useful for users who need to analyse data that is represented in grayscale, as it allows for efficient storage and processing. Yield maps and EM38 files which are common examples of files which are stored as single band GeoTIFFs.

Shape Files are vector files that store geometric data and associated attribute information. They are widely used in geographic information system (GIS) applications to represent various geographic features, such as points, lines, and polygons. This format enables users to import detailed spatial data, such as boundaries of agricultural fields or locations of specific points of interest, facilitating advanced analysis and visualisation within the FarmLab platform.

Importing your file into FarmLab

1) Select a Farm through the Dashboard and then press the Import Data Tab on the left hand menu.

2) Select the Upload SHP or TIFF Button at the bottom right hand corner of the menu.

3) Select the SHP or TIFF from the pop up browser.

4) The file will load giving you the menu below.

Once you are happy, press save and you will be taken back to the custom data menu.

5) Next, you will need to resurvey the farm to integrate this new layer, allowing you to interact with it alongside other remotely sensed data. This process will enable you to perform advanced analyses, including modeling and stratification.
